Athletes need to know that they are loved. They need to believe that they are much more than their athletic performance. They need to play… and play free from the fear of failure. As we teach athletes to learn, grow, and compete, let’s do so in an environment that fosters aggressive effort and short memories. Make mistakes quickly and often – then LEARN from them. Baseball is much more than a game…
BASEBALL IS LIFE
A TESTIMONIAL…
“We had the pleasure of signing our son up for Summer Camp 2018.
My son had some experience with baseball but there is always improvement needed. He was so pumped to go to summer camp, always showed up and left with a smile, and was eager to go the next day. Each day he learned something new and came home with a new saying. The one that really stuck was; “To be good at baseball you have to practice, practice, practice.” On his own, he’d go to our back yard and throw the ball up in the air to catch it or against the wall to practice ground balls. Never before had I seen this initiative!
When it was close to wrap up the week I asked him; ‘Do you want to play soccer or baseball?’ His dad of course wanted soccer all the way and he looked at me and said; ‘Fine! I will play soccer but only if I can play baseball too.’ This fall he plays both sports. He was placed with more experienced kids course and said they were better than him – almost wanted to give up. Having a super encouraging coach has helped him tremendously and reminding him about summer camp experience.
One day on our way to practice he said; ‘You know, I love baseball. I need to practice-practice-practice like coach Dan always said and mom maybe I can be a professional!’ That’s a WOW for a goal. Thank you for making a difference in our 5 year old’s sports life. He’s looking forward to winter camp and will continue to play baseball.”
